1689 Baptist Confession of Faith
The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith, also known as the Second London Baptist Confession, is a historic Reformed Baptist statement of faith. It was adopted by Particular (or Calvinistic) Baptists in England and draws heavily on the earlier Westminster Confession of Faith and the Savoy Declaration. It outlines key doctrinal beliefs such as the authority of Scripture, the nature of God, salvation by grace through faith, and believer's baptism. It emphasizes the sovereignty of God, covenant theology, and the local autonomy of churches, forming a foundation for Reformed Baptist theology.
A Confessional Church
Church of Christ the King is a confessional church that holds to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith as an important and historic summary of biblical doctrine. However, we do not require full subscription to the confession for membership. While the confession guides our teaching and beliefs, we welcome members who share a commitment to the core truths of the Christian faith, even if they may differ on some secondary matters outlined in the 1689 Confession.
